US airlines Delta, United and US Airways have suspended all service into Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport.
Delta said it was doing so "to ensure the safety and security of our customers and employees".
Delta said a flight from New York City to Tel Aviv was diverted to Paris on Tuesday after Israeli police confirmed that a rocket landed near the airport.
The move comes amid heightened scrutiny over flights into or above conflict zones.
United and Delta both said they had consulted with the US Federal Aviation Administration when making their decisions to suspend all service.
United said in a statement: "We are working with government officials to ensure the safety of our customers and our employees and will continue to evaluate the situation."
US Airways said on Twitter that it had cancelled its daily flight from Philadelphia to Tel Aviv "due to security concerns at TLV" but did not say whether it had suspended further flights.
The halt in service comes less than a week after Israel began a ground operation in Gaza, and as airlines around the world re-think their flight paths over conflict areas in the wake of the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine.
However, the suspension in service seemed to be limited to US airlines.
British Airways said in response to questions on Twitter: 'We are closely monitoring the situation. Our flights are currently operating as scheduled."
